Poor temperature control over time

I bought the Maytag M1TXEGMYW00 in 2012. I liked the design and sturdy construction. It was my first fridge with an ice maker. It was all great for about 4 years. Then it didn't keep ice cream frozen. When I turned the temperature to a colder setting, things in the refrigerator would freeze -- and the ice cream was still rather soft. In 2017, I finally called a repair service who replaced the "cold control" temperature sensor. This didn't help, and cost me $170. I've put thermometers in the freezer and refrigerator and have found way too much variance in temperatures - the freezer ranges 6-27 degrees while the refrigerator ranges 28-41. Now it's 2019 and I'm shopping for a new refrigerator, being told that all the new ones are junk and "they don't make them like they used to". The ones I'm seeing now have an adjustment in the freezer to change the amount of cold vented into the refrigerator, but there are still so many things that can go wrong. So I'm just hoping to get a new refrigerator that will function properly for 5 years. Also, this requires that I click on agreeing to "terms and privacy statement", but the link to that just takes my back to the product page! Bad form, Maytag!

I bought this refrigerator because of the Maytag repairman commercials about reliability. Only 3 years old and having problems with it already. Old (different brand fridge is still going strong after 20 years)

I gave this model a 3, because after 2 years of owing it, I had to purchase a 'repair warranty' in the tune of $350 dollars. The compressor was shot!
